Beyond the ordinary

This is where our journey begins.

Women's place in society

Did you know?

Before 1918, only 58% of the adult male population were eligible to vote.

In 1918, The Representation of  the People Act was passed which allowed women over the age of 30 who met a property qualification , to vote.  This amounted to two thirds of the total population of women.

The same Act,  extended the vote to all men over the age of 21 and if you were in the Armed Forces, the age of 19.

In 1928, the Equal Franchise Act was introduced and women over the age of 21 were able to vote.  This Act increased the number of women eligible to vote to 15 million.

While the Suffragettees led by Emmeline Pankhurst from 1903 played a part in achieving this, the First World War led to a shift in opinion when women were needed to take on public and industrial roles.

Why is this relevant?  Well, apart from being of interest, it is also highlighting how short the timescale is for women.  If we then acknowledge that Women's mental health was only starting to be recognised in the late 1960's and 1970's it is clear that this is new territory for us all.

In 1989, the British Menopause Society was founded.

Your Well Being Matters

Our mental well being is spoken about much more often than it ever was in days gone by.   Women's status and position within society has never looked so different and that is why being aware of how we are where we are today is so important.

I started Beyond Today, Beyond The Scales, refresh, reset, renew - to offer support to women of all ages.  Menopause is a tough stage in our lives with an unclear start and finish date but so is maturing throughout your 20's, maybe having children into your 30's and then before you know it, this new period.  By our sheer physical make up the female body is extra-ordinary and needs care and acknowledgment.

It is okay to struggle with life at times, sometimes more than we don't.  There is a lot going on, the world is a busier place than it has ever been.  Women are not only home-makers, mothers but also equal providers.

It can be a lot to handle.

It can be overwhelming.

It can also be managed to become manageable and that is by taking control through understanding, listening and breathing every day.  How?

By being conscious.

If you want to take control of your life and would like to see if this is for you, email, phone, whatsapp.  What have you got to lose?
